To Wait is a Sin

I am amazed how much parenting has taught me about God. With a 6, 4 and 1 year old in the house it seems like we are always working on obedience.

When I ask my kids to do something, I expect them to do it immediately. No excuses. No arguing. Just do it.

I am reminded of the exchange between Moses and God in Exodus. God wants Moses to lead the Israelites and Moses comes up with excuse after excuse. In Exodus 4:14 it says that God’s anger burned against Moses. I think as a dad I finally understand that kind of burning anger. After all sorts of arguing and excuses from my kids … my anger begins to burn.  This leads me to think that when God clearly is calling us to do something … then to wait is a sin.

I typically think of sin as the bad stuff I am doing

but sin is also the good stuff that I am not doing.

In previous posts I have described the parts of the TRADER definition and today the idea of ACTING SWIFTLY rounds out the definition.  Here is our completed picture of what it looks like to be a TRADER.

A Trader is a new kind of missionary, not defined by geography, but defined by a resolve to …

CHOOSE DAILY to sacrifice our time and money to apply the parable of the Good Samaritan and to “go and do likewise.”

HATE INJUSTICE and find specific ways to bring the hope found in Jesus to desperate situations.

WORK AS WORSHIP because God is glorified when we use our God-given passions and skills with excellence.

ACT SWIFTLY because the time is right now!

Our ministry’s mission is to help people trade in the pursuit of the American Dream for a world that desperately needs Christ.
