Traveling to Israel with David Nasser to answer the question “Why Jesus?”

Our team loves David Nasser.  Several years ago our VP of Video Production, Phil Warner, worked on our first project with David.  Since then Phil has traveled to Rome and Israel shooting some of our most unique resources.

Josh Holden is one of the producers who traveled with Phil and David on their most recent trip to Israel.  I asked him to share some thoughts about the trip:

Traveling to Israel last year for the production of the Why Jesus? series was an amazing experience.  I was only there for 10 days, but the word of God came alive.  Whether it was visiting Bethlehem and Jerusalem, or taking a boat out onto the Sea of Galilee, I discovered the Christ I had read about and believed in my whole life to be more real to me than ever before.

There were two locations that really stood out.  First was the Garden of Gethsemane.  I only had a few moments to myself, but in that time I was struck by the humanity of Christ.  There in the garden, sitting under an olive tree, Jesus was confronted with the weight of all mankind’s sin.  Feeling its pressure, He pleaded with God the Father to help Him.  He could have taken the easy way out, but His love for me was so great, that He willingly laid His life down for mine.  There in the Garden I was truly humbled by His sacrifice and love for me.

The second place  that stood out was Meggido.  While overlooking the Valley of Armageddon, I realized all the different places we had visited on the trip were places where events had already occurred.  But there at Meggido, I was looking at the place where Jesus Christ will one day return as the victorious King.

Being a part of the production of this Bible study was an honor: I hope and pray that you will be blessed by it.

Phil and Josh were working with David to produce and adult Bible study called Why Jesus? We feel like the question “why Jesus?” is the most important one you’ll ever ask. So this 4-part study addresses four tough questions about Jesus with locations of Israel as the backdrop. (Plus it’s cool that Third Day’s Mac Powell hosts the series — he even kind of looks like Jesus!)

Even though I didn’t get to go to Israel — just seeing the places on screen that I have read about in scripture brings a whole new perspective to the teachings of Jesus.
