Around Morocco in 10 pictures

Last week Julie and I took a 10 year anniversary trip to Morocco.  It was Julie’s first time to Africa and my first time to North Africa.  We had a blast and owe a big thanks to our parents who watched our kids while we were gone.

Here is our trip told through 10 pictures:

1. Where else can you see palm trees, desert and snow-capped mountains in one shot.

2. The fortified city of Aït Benhaddou where films like Lawrence of Arabia, The Jewel of the Nile and Gladiator were filmed.

3. This gate was built by the Gladiator film crew to match the look of the rest of Aït Benhaddou.

4. Hayat and Zourk served as our guide and driver for a day and took us on a picnic.

5. We trekked into the desert on camels and met an awesome Canadian family.

6. After spending the night in the desert, our guide is preparing us for the 90 minute ride back to civilization.

7. We spent the night in a Berber tent at the base of a big dune and ate a local dish known as tagine.

8. The Medina in the city of Fes has 9000 narrow alleys and over 200,000 inhabitants. Here is the tannery that dyes and crafts leather goods.

9. The famous Bab Boujloud (Blue gate) that serves as an entrance to the Fes Medina.

10. We came home to 7 inches of snow in Dallas! Ashley and Abby enjoyed the last day of spring break.

There are many more pictures and even better memories from our whirlwind tour through Morocco.  We also saw old friends and made news ones along the way.  Morocco is a beautiful country with a rich history.  It was an amazing place to celebrate 10 fantastic years of marriage.

Awesome pics! Thanks for sharing your trip and giving us the ‘inside view’ of Morocco. You camped in the desert!! I’m not sure I would have been up for that part==heard the desert comes alive at night and I wouldn’t want to meet them! :) So glad you enjoyed your trip celebrating 10 years!
