The Importance of Process

I am three months into my new role as President. I have learned a lot and there’s a lot more learning to do.

One thing that has been a topic of conversation across the office is the importance of process. I think I am a “processor” by nature and so the concept of process is permeating our creative team, sales team, customer service & admin team, shipping team and executive leadership team.

Processing forces you to …

  1. Write Things Down.  An idea is never clearer than what you can write down.
  2. Be Proactive. Putting a plan in place prevents the temptation to just be reactionary to the urgent.
  3. Get On The Same Page. A written process can be a roadmap to align an entire team.
  4. Relieve Some Stress. A well-developed process frees you from daily trying to plan the plan.  Now your creative energy can go into executing the plan.

My desk is filling up with different processes that our team is writing down.  We are killing some trees, but making progress on process.
